Optimizing Your Life: Becoming the Best Version of Yourself

What if you could achieve more by doing less?

The secret lies in optimization—maximizing every moment, every decision, and every ounce of energy to propel you towards your goals. Right now, as you read this, think about how you’re showing up in your life and business. Are you moving with purpose? Are you living intentionally?

Recently, we explored the power of doing less to get more. Now, it’s time to take that idea and supercharge it by optimizing everything you do.

Embracing a New Decade with Purpose

This year marks my final year in my thirties (gulp!). With 40 on the horizon, I feel a strong urge to step into this new decade as the best version of myself. Recently, I’ve been working hard every day to get there, but I realized I needed help.

No one has all the answers. So, I took a deep look at my life and began asking myself, What do I want?

Discover What Lights You Up

If you’re feeling stuck, unsure where to start, the first step is to figure out what lights you up. What gets you out of bed every morning? What is that core passion or purpose that you believe God placed in your heart?

This isn’t something you’ll figure out in one writing session—it takes time. Journaling is my go-to method. Write, reflect, and then revisit it often.

Ask yourself:

  • What lights you up?
  • What do you believe you’re here on this earth to do?
  • What drives you forward each day?

You Are Here for a Purpose

Let me take a moment to remind you: You are uniquely designed for greatness. You have one shot at life, and that’s why self-care and nurturing your environment matter so much. Every day is a choice. I truly believe there’s an enemy out there who wants to pull us down, but you have the power to fight back and rise above.

I’ve been in dark places, too. I’ve prayed just to make it five more minutes through tough times, feeling unworthy and broken. But I’ve learned we have the power to choose. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary.

Reflect on the past few months or years. What is it that keeps nudging at your soul? What makes your heart race with excitement? For me, it’s helping others—mentoring, coaching, encouraging. That’s what fuels me. What is it for you?

Define Your Core Values

Now that you’ve identified what lights you up, take a look at the values you live by. These values will guide every decision and action you take. For me, my values are:

  • Responsibility
  • Compassion
  • Integrity
  • Grit
  • Excellence
  • Communication
  • Growth
  • Authenticity

These aren’t just words—they’re the foundation I build on. And guess what? These values affect more than just me; they influence my family, my marriage, and my work.

Take time to define your values, and don’t be afraid if they evolve over time. What matters is that you align your life with them.

Envision Your Future Self

Here’s your next writing assignment: Visualize your future self. Who are you five, ten, or twenty years from now? What does your life look like?

Who is this future version of you? What values does she live by? How does she show up for her family, friends, and business? Most importantly, how does she feel?

Write it down. Don’t just imagine it—commit it to paper and review it daily. This exercise isn’t just about dreaming; it’s about creating a clear path to becoming that person.

Optimizing Your Life One Habit at a Time

Here’s the secret: Change happens in the little things you do daily. It’s about showing up as your future self today. Every day, I ask God how I can live out His will for my life. Some days it’s small things—positive interactions with my husband, getting enough sleep, moving my body, or journaling.

But it all adds up. Consistency is what makes the difference.

I decided to draw a line in the sand. I’m working hard on myself, because I know the better I am, the better I can show up for the people around me. I have eyes on me—my family, my friends—and I want to be a source of encouragement for them.

Create a Peaceful, Optimized Environment

I recently read a quote that hit home for me: “I don’t want to be the source of stress for my husband.” This resonated deeply with me. I FELT that. I want my home to be a place of peace and serenity for my family, a safe space where we can all recharge and find comfort.

The world can be chaotic, but we have control over how we show up at home. I want to be the person who brings joy, not stress, to the people I love.

Optimization Starts With You

As we dive into this month’s theme of optimization, remember it starts with YOU. If you want to see change in your life, it begins with how you show up and what you do every single day. It’s hard—life happens, things get busy, and challenges arise—but when you’re grounded in your purpose and anchored in God’s Word, making the right choices becomes easier.

Here’s what I invite you to do: Stop trying and start doing.
